HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla.– Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) and the Florida Forest Service have successfully contained the brush fire that burned approximately 400 acres at Alafia River State Park. The fire was initially reported at 6:51 PM this evening near Thatcher Road and east of County Road 39.
“Thanks to the Florida Forest Service’s efforts, a containment line was plowed around the fire, effectively halting its spread,” said Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Public Safety Information Chief Rob Herrin. “HCFR has begun demobilizing some of its units from the scene, though a presence will remain in the area for continued monitoring and safety assurance.”
No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened throughout the incident. Residents in nearby areas who may have experienced smoke or the smell of smoke earlier this evening should see conditions improve.
