Hillsborough County Sheriff’s ICAT Team Delivers “Major Impact” With 12 Arrests, Seizures In 24 Hours

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – In a concentrated 24-hour operation on May 29, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Interdiction Criminal Apprehension Team (ICAT) made a significant dent in local criminal activity, resulting in twelve arrests, the seizure of multiple firearms and vehicles, and the confiscation of thousands of dollars in drug money and illegal narcotics.

The intensive day of proactive policing saw ICAT deputies conduct 161 traffic stops across Hillsborough County. The swift and decisive actions led to the removal of more than 190 grams of illegal narcotics from the streets, including marijuana, cocaine, and synthetic cannabinoids.

Additionally, deputies seized five firearms, two vehicles, and confiscated over $5,800 in drug-related cash.

Sheriff Chad Chronister lauded the team’s efforts, stating, “This is exactly the kind of proactive policing that keeps Hillsborough County safe. ICAT is relentless when it comes to stopping criminals before they can do more harm.”

Among those apprehended during the 24-hour surge were:

  • Detrick Lovett, 34, who was found in possession of a firearm, synthetic cannabinoids, and a digital scale, indicating potential drug distribution activities.
  • Keyron Johnson, 38, who was arrested with 22 grams of cocaine, marijuana, and a substantial amount of cash. His vehicle was seized as part of the investigation, and he now faces multiple felony charges.

The HCSO emphasized the mission of the ICAT team: “One team. One mission. Safer streets.” The results of this concentrated operation underscore the team’s commitment to disrupting criminal networks and enhancing public safety within Hillsborough County.
