An illegal alien with a lengthy criminal record has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after allegedly mailing a handwritten letter threatening to assassinate President Trump by shooting him in the head at a rally.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the arrest Wednesday, with Secretary Kristi Noem issuing a warning about the escalating threats against the President.
Ramon Morales Reyes, a 54-year-old Mexican national, was apprehended on May 22nd. According to a DHS statement, an ICE field intelligence officer received a disturbing handwritten letter from Morales Reyes on May 21st.
In the letter (below), Morales Reyes reportedly vowed to self-deport only after carrying out his threat to shoot President Trump.

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” stated Secretary Kristi Noem. “This threat comes not even a year after President Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, and less than two weeks after former FBI Director Comey called for the President’s assassination. All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric. I will continue to take all measures necessary to ensure the protection of President Trump.”

DHS revealed that Morales Reyes has a significant history of illegal entries into the United States, having crossed the border unlawfully at least nine times between 1998 and 2005.
His criminal record includes arrests for felony hit and run, criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier.
Morales Reyes is currently being held in ICE custody at the Dodge County Jail in Juneau, Wisconsin, awaiting removal proceedings.
The alleged threat is the latest in a series of security concerns surrounding President Trump. Secretary Noem’s statement pointedly referenced a previous shooting incident involving the President in Butler, Pennsylvania, and recent controversial remarks attributed to former FBI Director James Comey, which she characterized as a call for the President’s assassination.

Secretary Noem urged a de-escalation of political rhetoric, implying a connection between heated public discourse and the increasing threats against the nation’s leader.
