Inmate Dies After Medical Event At Hillsborough County Jail

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating the death of an inmate who suffered a medical emergency while awaiting transport for a court appearance earlier today.

According to HCSO, 71-year-old Robert Anderson, an inmate at the Falkenburg Road Jail, experienced a medical event at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Deputies and the jail’s nursing staff immediately provided medical assistance to Anderson before he was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Despite the efforts of both jail staff and hospital personnel, Anderson was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 7:33 a.m.

HCSO has confirmed that Anderson’s next of kin has been notified of his passing.

The Sheriff’s Office has stated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway
