Key West Man Arrested For Loaded Gun At Airport Security

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 76-year-old man from Key West, Florida, found himself in handcuffs on Wednesday after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a loaded handgun at a security checkpoint at Key West International Airport (EYW).

Joseph William Ordini was apprehended and subsequently charged with carrying a concealed weapon in a restricted area, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded as Ordini was passing through the security screening process. TSA personnel detected the firearm during routine checks. Authorities identified the weapon as a .22-caliber revolver.

When questioned by the Sheriff’s Office, Ordini reportedly stated that he had been drinking and had forgotten that he was carrying the loaded handgun in his pocket.
