LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Christopher Lee England, 42, of Lake County, has been sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty last week of Sexual Battery and Burglary of a Dwelling while Armed. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Judge Eddy, who determined England qualified as a Prison Releasee Reoffender.
The charges stemmed from an incident in June 2022, following an investigation by the Mascotte Police Department. Law enforcement responded to a call from the victim, who reported that England, an acquaintance, had broken into her home and sexually assaulted her.

The investigation revealed a terrifying ordeal for the victim. According to reports, the victim awoke in the middle of the night to find a masked individual holding a knife to her throat. The intruder then played a recording with a distorted voice, making threats against her.
The situation escalated when one of the victim’s two children, who were sleeping in the same bed, began to wake up. At this point, the intruder removed their mask, revealing himself to be England, who was known to the woman.
England then forced the woman into another room, away from the children, where he continued to threaten to kill the victim and her family if she did not comply with his demands. He subsequently sexually battered the victim before fleeing the residence.
Further investigation uncovered a disturbing detail: England had been released from prison just six months prior to this incident for a Kidnapping case involving the same victim in Polk County, Florida.

An arrest warrant was issued for England, and he was apprehended by the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Winter Haven, Florida, following a brief standoff with law enforcement.
The successful prosecution of this case was carried out by Assistant State Attorneys Shannon Schlarf and Rachel Jones. The life sentence underscores the severity of the crimes committed and the justice system’s commitment to protecting the community from repeat violent offenders.
