LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Travis Lee Kaley, 35, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Monday after a jury found him guilty of Burglary of a Conveyance with a Battery. The sentence, handed down by Judge James R. Baxley, reflects Kaley’s violent criminal history.
The conviction stems from an incident in April of last year, investigated by the Mascotte Police Department. Officers responded to a battery call where a witness detailed a disturbing encounter with Kaley. According to the witness, Kaley had been sending messages prior to the incident, inquiring about her location and who she was with.

Upon returning home, with the victim driving and the witness in the passenger seat, they encountered Kaley’s pickup truck parked in the middle of the road.
The witness, attempting to de-escalate the situation, exited the vehicle to speak with Kaley, who appeared frustrated. After a brief exchange, Kaley initially began to walk back to his truck.
However, as the witness re-entered the victim’s vehicle, Kaley reportedly charged back towards them, shouting. During this verbal altercation, Kaley opened the passenger’s side door, entered the vehicle, and repeatedly struck the victim in the face before fleeing the scene.
