MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old man from Lake Wales, Florida, found himself behind bars Saturday morning after a wild series of events that began with a high-speed motorcycle run in the Florida Keys. Jade Curtis Monday now faces a slew of charges following a pursuit that stretched from Islamorada to Marathon.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to pull over Monday around 12:30 a.m. in Islamorada. However, instead of stopping, the suspect, later identified as Monday, reportedly sped off southbound on U.S. 1, clocking speeds in excess of 100 mph.

The pursuit continued until a resident in the 69000 block of the Overseas Highway in Marathon reported a suspicious individual on a motorcycle in their yard. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Monday and his motorcycle wedged against a fence, which had been knocked down.
Monday’s attempt to evade law enforcement didn’t end there. As deputies approached, he allegedly tried to flee again, this time striking a Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. Deputies then deployed a Taser, causing Monday to fall from the motorcycle and subsequently surrender without further resistance.
During questioning, Monday reportedly admitted to fleeing from the initial traffic stop. He also stated that he entered the private property in Marathon in search of gasoline to refuel his motorcycle.
