POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old man from Lake Wales died this morning following a two-vehicle collision on Old Polk City Road, east of County Road 557. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported the incident occurred at approximately 6:13 AM on Wednesday.
According to the FHP, a Ford F150 pickup truck, driven by the Lake Wales man, was traveling westbound on Old Polk City Road.
At the same time, a tractor-trailer was also traveling westbound on the same road. As the tractor-trailer stopped due to other traffic ahead, the driver of the pickup truck reportedly failed to stop and collided with the rear of the larger vehicle.

The driver of the Ford F150 sustained fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as a 38-year-old man from Avon Park, did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
