Lake Wales Motorcyclist Dies In Two-Vehicle Crash: Polk County Sheriff

LAKE WALES, Fla. – A 38-year-old Lake Wales man was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle collision on Mammoth Grove Road near Stokes Road.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the scene at approximately 9:53 pm on April 29, 2025. Upon arrival, first responders found Justin Casey Weyburn deceased. Weyburn was identified as the operator of a black 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The driver of the other vehicle, 41-year-old James Keen, Jr., also of Lake Wales, was unharmed in the crash. Keen was driving a black 2023 Ford F250 and towing a boat on a trailer.

According to the preliminary investigation, Weyburn was traveling eastbound on Mammoth Grove Road on his motorcycle. At the same time, Keen was exiting a private driveway onto westbound Mammoth Grove Road. As Keen made the turn, his Ford F250 entered the eastbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the motorcycle.

Authorities confirmed that Mr. Weyburn was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Mammoth Grove Road was closed for approximately three hours as deputies conducted their investigation. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
