Ahead of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old man from Winter Haven was driving a GMC 2500 truck, towing a trailer in the outside eastbound lane. The driver of the truck moved into the inside lane to allow the faster-moving traffic to pass.
As the truck changed lanes, it was overtaken and struck from behind by the motorcycle. The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to become lodged underneath the truck.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
