TAMPA, Fla. – U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber has handed down an 18-year federal prison sentence to Randall Alderman, 61, of Lakeland, for the production and receipt of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Following his prison term, Alderman will be subject to a lifetime of supervised release. He had previously pleaded guilty to the charges on September 16, 2024.

Court documents revealed that Alderman initiated sexually explicit communications with a 13-year-old victim through a social media application beginning in 2021. During these interactions, Alderman requested and subsequently received child sexual abuse material from the minor.

Confronted by the FBI, Alderman admitted to engaging in these communications and receiving the illicit material. A subsequent search of Alderman’s phone by the FBI uncovered 10 videos and 7 images containing child sexual abuse involving the victim.

The FBI investigated this case, and Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry handled the prosecution.
