LAKELAND, Fla. – U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber sentenced Randall Alderman, 61, of Lakeland, to 18 years in federal prison for producing and receiving child sexual abuse material. Once Alderman finishes serving his prison term, he will enter a lifetime of supervised release.

The sentencing was announced Thursday following Alderman’s guilty plea entered on September 16, 2024.

Court documents show that Alderman started his illegal activities in 2021 when he communicated sexually with a 13-year-old victim via a social media platform. The young victim supplied child sexual abuse material, which Alderman actively solicited.

The FBI investigation uncovered how far Alderman’s crimes extended. While speaking with law enforcement officials, Alderman confessed to both interacting with the victim and obtaining illegal material.

Subsequent searches uncovered 10 videos and 7 images depicting child sexual abuse of the victim on Alderman’s personal cell phone.

The FBI led the investigation into this disturbing case. Prosecutor Courtney Derry worked as the Assistant United States Attorney in this case.
