LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland man with a history of arrests for theft, battery, and drug offenses, and a prior state prison sentence, was taken into custody early Thursday morning after initially eluding deputies earlier in the week.

Glenn Osteen, 29, was arrested just after midnight on Thursday by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, following a traffic stop in Kathleen. He was apprehended on an active warrant stemming from an incident on Sunday night.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Lopez observed Osteen on a motorcycle just after 10 p.m. on Monday, June 2nd. Osteen was seen exiting a parking lot without stopping, and Deputy Lopez recognized him, knowing that Osteen did not have a motorcycle endorsement. Additionally, the motorcycle reportedly did have a valid license plate.

Deputy Lopez attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Osteen allegedly sped away. For safety reasons, the deputy discontinued the pursuit, opting instead to obtain a warrant for Osteen’s arrest.

A warrant was subsequently issued for Osteen, including charges of Fleeing to Elude, Reckless Driving, Operating a Motorcycle without an Endorsement, Unregistered Vehicle, Resisting an Officer, and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR).

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office noted that Glenn Osteen has a significant criminal history, including previous arrests for theft, battery, and drug-related offenses. He has also served time in state prison.
