POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A traffic stop early Saturday morning led to the arrest of two Lakeland residents on multiple charges, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

The incident began at approximately 3:05 am on May 24th, when a PCSO deputy pulled over a red Nissan Altima on Eagle Avenue near 12th Street in Eagle Lake.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Datrianne Evonne Crawford of Lakeland, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. According to authorities, her license has been suspended since December 2024, and she has two prior convictions for Driving While License Suspended/Revoked (DWLSR).

Investigators also determined that Crawford had failed to notify the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) of a change of address, despite having moved nearly two years ago.

Deputies on the scene reported that Crawford also appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. She subsequently performed poorly on Field Sobriety Tests.

During the investigation, the front seat passenger, 43-year-old James Tyrone Crawford of Lakeland, reportedly exited the vehicle and approached deputies. Despite repeated instructions to return to the car, James allegedly refused and continued to interfere with the deputies’ investigation.

Both Datrianne and James Crawford were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Polk County Jail.

Datrianne Crawford faces charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Felony Driving While License Suspended/Revoked (DWLSR), and Failure to Notify of Change of Address. She also refused to submit to a breath test.

James Crawford was charged with Interfering with a First Responder On Duty (under the HALO LAW) and Resisting an Officer without Violence.
