The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) proudly presented Lee Jacobi with the prestigious Landowner of the Year award for the Youth Hunting Program of Florida at its May Commission meeting held in Ocala.
This award recognizes Jacobi’s exceptional dedication and contributions to a program vital for introducing young Floridians to the outdoors through safe, educational, and affordable hunting experiences.
According to the FWC, Jacobi’s involvement with the Youth Hunting Program began following a simple letter inviting landowners participating in the Antlerless Deer Permit Program to consider opening their properties for youth hunts.

He readily agreed, hosting a pivotal first youth hunt on his family farm in Escambia County. He also served as a guide, sharing his knowledge and passion for the outdoors.
Inspired by the success of that initial event, Jacobi took his commitment a step further. He completed comprehensive HuntMaster training and assumed full responsibility for coordinating all subsequent youth hunts on his property.
Since then, Jacobi and his family have consistently opened their farm to five young participants and their parents each year, providing unforgettable weekends filled with invaluable learning experiences and thrilling outdoor adventures.
Bill Cline, FWC’s Section Leader for Hunter Safety and Public Shooting Ranges, lauded Jacobi’s profound impact.

“Lee’s volunteer spirit and hospitality create a welcoming, educational environment for the new hunters he mentors,” said Cline. “He not only imparts practical knowledge about hunting and conservation but also instills a love for farming, demonstrating how these practices intersect in the broader mission of protecting Florida’s natural resources and sustaining our shared hunting legacy for future generations.”
