A Georgia man has been handed a life sentence plus an additional 90 years in prison after being found guilty of a litany of charges stemming from a violent home invasion and assault in Gwinnett County.

The charges against Christopher Raymond Clamp, 53, of Auburn, included aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, aggravated stalking, felony battery-family violence, misdemeanor terroristic threats, and misdemeanor hindering an emergency telephone call.

The sentence was delivered in a Gwinnett County courtroom following Clamp’s conviction for the horrific events that unfolded on January 16, 2022.

Police responded to a wellness check at a local residence and discovered the victim in a state of extreme distress, bearing many visible injuries.

The victim recounted to authorities a terrifying ordeal spanning two days, during which Clamp forced his way into her home, subjected her to repeated beatings, choking, and sexual assault, and held her against her will.

She also revealed a prior pattern of threatening behavior by the defendant through email correspondence and detailed how he prevented her from contacting emergency services after he entered the home.

The prosecution presented a compelling case during the trial, featuring the victim’s courageous testimony, the threatening emails sent by Clamp, and photographic evidence documenting the injuries she sustained.

The jury deliberated for a mere 35 minutes before returning a verdict of guilty on all counts.

“We hope this verdict and sentence helps this victim recover from the trauma the defendant inflicted on her,” Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson stated. “Her bravery to face him in court is an important part of her healing journey.”
