PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 75 near Milepost 277 on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a 69-year-old man from Longboat Key. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 PM, involved five vehicles, and caused significant traffic disruptions.

According to initial reports, a Tesla Model S driven by the Longboat Key man was traveling southbound on I-75. Troopers say Tesla veered out of its lane and collided with a Ford F150, driven by a 43-year-old female from Riverview. An 11-year-old male passenger was also in the Ford F150.

The impact of the pickup truck caused Tesla to redirect, subsequently striking a Toyota Corolla driven by a 70-year-old male from Wesley Chapel.

The force of this second collision caused the Toyota Corolla to then collide with a Peterbilt truck driven by a 59-year-old male from St. Petersburg. The Tesla Model S continued southbound after the initial two impacts and ultimately collided with a Volvo tractor-trailer.

The Longboat Key man sustained critical injuries in the series of collisions. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
