Loughman Man Arrested For Armed Robbery After Cell Phone Dispute Near Davenport

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Loughman man is behind bars after allegedly robbing another man at a mobile home park on Old Lake Wilson Road on Saturday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM. The victim reported that he was threatened by a man wielding brass knuckles, who then stole his cell phone.

The victim identified the suspect as 59-year-old Eddie Edwin Ramos, also of Loughman. Authorities learned that the victim had been hired by a friend of Ramos to perform some handyman work and had received upfront payment but had not yet completed the job.

Ramos reportedly confronted the victim and took his cell phone, stating that the victim would not get it back until he repaid Ramos’s friend.

PCSO deputies made contact with Ramos, who admitted to taking the phone. However, he denied possessing or using brass knuckles during the encounter.

Eddie Edwin Ramos was subsequently arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Polk County Jail.

He faces charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

Deputies say that further investigation revealed that Ramos has a prior conviction for 1st-Degree Manslaughter in New York dating back to 1986.
