For weeks, the excitement was palpable in the Adee household. Carter Adee, a young boy living with Trisomy 21, a form of Down syndrome, was about to embark on a “Magical Dream” trip to the Central Florida Theme Parks, an incredible experience granted by the Sunshine Foundation.
Carter’s dream came true, filling his days with wonder and adventure. His mother shared the joy of the trip, stating, “Carter absolutely loved his Walt Disney World trip. It’s all he could talk about for weeks beforehand and after. He didn’t want to leave. Now he asks when we can go back. His favorite ride was Avatar Flight of Passage. Thank you for the donations that made it possible for his dream to come true.”

The Sunshine Foundation is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to answering the dreams of children with lifelong severe chronic illnesses and conditions. Unlike some other wish-granting organizations, the Sunshine Foundation embraces children with diagnoses such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, severe autism (Level 3), Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, severe epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease, blindness, deafness, and those who have experienced trauma from abuse. Their inclusive approach ensures that more children can experience a moment of pure joy and escape.
Carter’s “Dream Come True” was made possible through the generous proceeds raised at the 2024 Sunshine Foundation Gala, coupled with contributions from other thoughtful donors. The foundation relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations to make these precious dreams a reality for children who might otherwise be turned away.
