PLANT CITY, Fla. – Prepare for a flurry of wagging tails and heartwarming connections as the Third Annual Mega Dog Adoption Event arrives at the Grimes Family Agricultural Center at the Florida Strawberry Festival Fairgrounds this weekend, June 6-8. Seven county and municipal shelters from across the Tampa Bay region are joining forces to find forever homes for hundreds of deserving dogs.

From Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, over 300 adoption-ready dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and personalities will be eagerly awaiting their chance to meet new families. This massive collaborative effort aims to alleviate the immense strain on local shelters, many of which are operating well above capacity. Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, for example, is currently at a staggering 150 percent capacity for dogs, with some residents having waited over 100 days for a home.

Participating shelters include those from Hillsborough, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Pasco, Polk, and Sumter counties, bringing a diverse array of canine companions under one roof. Thanks to the support from the Athletes & Causes Foundation, Pet Resources Foundation, Chris and Mariah Godwin, and the Florida Strawberry Festival, all available dogs will be vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped, with all adoption fees completely waived.

The Mega Dog Adoption Event, held at 2508 W. Oak Ave., Plant City, FL 33563, is more than just an opportunity to welcome a new furry friend into your life. It’s a vital chance to provide a second chance for shelter dogs and simultaneously create much-needed space for other animals in distress. Every adoption has a ripple effect, impacting not only the life of the adopted dog but also the capacity of the entire shelter system.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the event and discover their perfect match. For those looking to browse a full list of available pets from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, their online kennel is also available.

This weekend promises to be a celebration of new beginnings, offering families the joy of companionship and providing hundreds of dogs the loving homes they so richly deserve.
