MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 28-year-old Miami man is behind bars after being implicated in a scheme to steal three high-value golf carts from a Key Largo business.
Jose Enrique Cespedes Farinas was arrested Wednesday and faces multiple charges, including grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
The arrest follows an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, which uncovered a sophisticated plot involving the acquisition of the golf carts using fraudulent credit cards.

Authorities revealed that three golf carts, each valued between $16,000 and $17,000, were “purchased” with credit cards that were subsequently declined. All three vehicles were then delivered to locations in Miami-Dade County.
Detectives investigating the case established Cespedes Farinas’s role in the operation. He later confessed to Sheriff’s Office Detectives that he knowingly took delivery of the golf carts with the express intention of reselling them at significantly reduced, below-market prices.
