Musk Unleashes “Big Bomb”: Epstein Files Delayed Because Trump’s In Them; Trump Responds

The long-awaited release of the Jeffrey Epstein files has once again been thrust into the national spotlight, ignited by an explosive claim from tech titan Elon Musk and intensifying demands from a Congressional Task Force.

Musk, in a fiery public spat with President Donald Trump, directly alleged that Trump is implicated in the Epstein files, claiming this is “the real reason they have not been made public.” He added, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

Musk’s startling accusation, made on X (the platform he owns), came amidst a dramatic and very public unraveling of his relationship with Donald Trump.

What began as a policy disagreement quickly spiraled into a bitter exchange of personal attacks, with Musk ultimately dropping what he called “the really big bomb” about the Epstein files.

Trump responded to Musk on Truth Social, saying, “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Users on X shot back at Musk with observations.

“One thing we all know to be true: If Trump were in The Epstein files, they would have just leaked it as a solid, cheap method of preventing him from obtaining a second term,” said @LaBlackDahlia1.

Another user chimed in saying, “I think Trump blatantly lied about Elon, so Elon embellished the truth. If there was anything damning in the Epstein files, the dems would have leaked that long ago.”

Musk’s allegation lands as the Department of Justice (DOJ) faces increasing pressure from a Congressional Task Force demanding the full, unredacted release of all documents related to the disgraced financier and sex trafficker.

Led by U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets formalized its demand in a letter sent to Attorney General Pam Bondi on May 8, 2025.

The letter explicitly calls for the release of all Epstein files by May 16, 2025, with no redactions except those strictly necessary to protect the personally identifiable information of survivors.

The Task Force’s urgency was heightened following the tragic death of Virginia Giuffre on April 25, 2025, a prominent survivor of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse who reportedly died by suicide. Giuffre was a vocal advocate against Epstein and his alleged accomplices, and her death “once again highlighted the need for full transparency to the American people regarding the case,” according to the Task Force.

DOJ’s Delays and Congressional Frustration

The Task Force’s letter detailed prior attempts to obtain information from the DOJ, including a February 11, 2025, request for a briefing on Epstein documents. While the DOJ responded on February 26, 2025, stating it was “reviewing” the request, the Task Force maintains they have yet to receive the requested briefing or any additional documents.

Adding to the frustration was a February 21, 2025, comment by Attorney General Bondi, who publicly stated that the “Epstein client list” was “sitting on my desk right now to review.” Over two months later, the Task Force and the public have seen no further releases.

“The crimes of Jeffrey Epstein implicated the most powerful members of our society in one of the most horrific sex trafficking rings to be uncovered in this century,” said Representative Luna. “The survivors of Jeffrey Epstein as well as the American people deserve to know who among the elite protected, enabled, or participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s disgusting racket. Our task force is demanding the full release of these files or a briefing on the status of the investigation. We work alongside the DOJ—not for it. AG Bondi needs to stop stonewalling and communicate with us.”

The letter, co-signed by Reps. Tim Burchett (R-TN), Eric Burlison (R-MO), and Eli Crane (R-AZ), also posed specific questions to Attorney General Bondi, including:

  • Why has it taken so long for the Department to release the remaining files related to the Epstein case?
  • Are there any influences within the federal government or on the outside who are actively working to block their release, and, if so, can you provide their names?
  • Why has your office refused to respond to repeated efforts by multiple members of Congress to get these documents released?

Separately, Attorney General Bondi addressed the status of Epstein-related evidence on May 7, 2025, stating that the FBI is currently reviewing “tens of thousands” of child exploitation videos found in Epstein’s possession. She cited the sheer volume and sensitive nature of this material as factors contributing to the lengthy review process, noting there are “hundreds of victims” and assuring that no individual victim’s personal information would be released.

Legal Battles for Transparency

The DOJ also faces legal pressure regarding Epstein records. In April, the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the DOJ, alleging a failure to adequately respond to requests for Epstein records, particularly those identifying his clients or associates. Judicial Watch argued that the DOJ’s prior document release on February 27, 2025, contained few new revelations and was insufficient.

Jeffrey Epstein died in federal custody in August 2019 while awaiting trial. The extensive network of powerful individuals associated with him has fueled ongoing public and congressional demands for transparency and accountability. The Task Force emphasizes that the American people and the survivors deserve to know the truth and that those who may have participated in the criminal acts must be held accountable.

As the June 5, 2025 deadline has passed for the Task Force’s demand, and with Elon Musk’s serious new allegation, the pressure on the DOJ to reveal the full scope of the Epstein scandal continues to mount. Will these renewed efforts finally bring the truth to light?
