Navarro On Thin Ice At “The View” After Reportedly Defying Disney CEO’s Call To Cool Trump Criticism

Tensions are reportedly simmering on the set of ABC’s “The View” as co-host Ana Navarro finds herself potentially isolated after challenging a directive from Disney CEO Bob Iger to reduce the show’s heavy focus on criticizing Donald Trump.

Sources indicate that Iger, along with ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic, recently urged the daytime talk show’s panel to diversify its content, suggesting viewers were more responsive to lighter, entertainment-focused segments rather than the consistent political commentary, particularly concerning the former president. The Daily Beast first reported on Iger’s feedback.

Navarro, a vocal anti-Trumpster, is said to have pushed back against this guidance, arguing that the show’s audience appreciates its “resistance-style rants.” However, this stance may have put her at odds not only with network executives but also with her fellow co-hosts.

Fox News reports that other panelists, including Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, largely “agree” with Iger’s assessment and are amenable to shifting the show’s direction. An inside source told Fox News, “The View is a daytime network talk show and needs to do more than just politics and Trump bashing. This was a welcome direction for many of us.”

There are now concerns among the cast that “ignoring Bob Iger seems like a terrible decision,” given his influential position and the show’s history of making personnel changes based on internal dynamics or audience reception. This has reportedly left Navarro in a precarious position, with speculation that her role could be under scrutiny.

Karamehmedovic had also reportedly suggested the hosts broaden their conversations, pointing to the higher ratings of episodes featuring celebrity guests as an example of successful alternative content.

While an ABC News source previously characterized such discussions with talent as “business as usual” based on viewer feedback, the differing alleged reactions from Navarro and her co-stars highlight a potential rift over the show’s editorial future.

“The View” has long been a platform for heated political debate, often centered on Trump’s actions and policies. The call for a shift in tone comes as media companies navigate a complex landscape, with some, like ABC, having previously settled lawsuits related to on-air statements about the former president.

As “The View” continues to air, all eyes will be on whether a discernible change in content occurs and what the implications might be for its outspoken co-host, Ana Navarro.
