New Port Richey Teen Runs Stop Sign In Fatal Spring Hill Crash

SPRING HILL, Fla. – A two-vehicle collision in Spring Hill early this morning resulted in one fatality and minor injuries to three others, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred at approximately 2:00 AM at the intersection of Lema Drive and Spring Hill Drive.

FHP reports that a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by an 18-year-old Port Richey man, was traveling southbound on Lema Drive. Simultaneously, a Chevy Malibu, driven by a 36-year-old Spring Hill woman, was eastbound on Spring Hill Drive.

Investigators state that the driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection, entering the path of the Chevy Malibu. The Santa Fe then struck the left side of the Malibu.

Following the initial impact, both vehicles veered to the southeast portion of the intersection. The Chevy Malibu subsequently collided with a utility pole and a tree.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu, a 36-year-old Spring Hill woman, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The 18-year-old Nea Port Richey man, along with his two passengers – Spring Hill girls aged 17 and 18 – all suffered minor injuries. They were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
