A routine end to a workday turned into a nightmare for a Circle K employee in Florida on Wednesday night, resulting in significant injuries and the subsequent arrest of two North Carolina men.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the Circle K on Scenic Gulf Drive in Miramar Beach, just after 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. A caller alerted authorities that her coworker had been assaulted in the store’s parking lot.

Upon arrival, deputies found the male victim with visible injuries, including a deep laceration above his eye and abrasions on his arms and hands.

The employee told investigators that he encountered two young men near his truck as he was leaving work. One of the individuals reportedly asked for a ride. When the clerk declined, he was violently attacked.

According to the victim’s statement, one assailant struck him in the face with a crushed aluminum can, while the second attacked him from behind, delivering multiple blows to his head, deputies say.

As the employee attempted to flee, the attackers allegedly began throwing items at him from the bed of his truck, including a vehicle engine starter estimated to weigh over ten pounds.

Walton County Sheriff’s deputies immediately began an investigation, canvassing the area for witnesses and securing surveillance footage from nearby properties. Their efforts throughout the night led to the identification of the suspects as Adrian Robert Gonzales, 20, and Daniel Guy Miller, 20, both residents of North Carolina.

Gonzales and Miller were located and taken into custody without incident shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Both men have been charged with aggravated battery and were transported to the Walton County Jail.
