PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 through Pasco County should be aware of a temporary overnight closure of the northbound rest area located at mile marker 278.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced that access to and from the rest area will be closed between 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, and 5 a.m. on Monday, May 19, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely repave the entrance and exit ramps of the facility. The rest area is situated between State Road 56 (Exit 275) and State Road 54/County Road 54 (Exit 279).

FDOT is advising truck drivers who typically utilize this rest area for overnight parking that return access to northbound I-75 may not be possible until after 5 a.m. on Monday. This could potentially impact travel plans for those relying on this location for mandated rest periods.

Alternative rest area options are available for northbound travelers. Drivers can utilize the previous rest area located in Hillsborough County at mile marker 238 or the subsequent rest area in Sumter County at mile marker 307.
