HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – An Odessa man has been charged following a collision at the intersection of Sheldon Road and Gunn Highway on Saturday, April 20, in Westchase, which resulted in one fatality and life-threatening injuries to another individual.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to the scene following reports of the crash.
According to HCSO officials, two adults involved in the collision were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Tragically, one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash, identified as 33-year-old Scott Kelley, Odessa, was detained at the scene pending a DUI investigation.
Following the preliminary investigation, Kelley has been charged with several offenses, including DUI Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide, DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI 2nd Offense.
“This case is a devastating example of why it’s never okay to drink and drive. A person lost their life and left behind a family to pick up the pieces, said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister.

He urged the public to make responsible choices regarding alcohol consumption and driving. “If you’ve been drinking, call someone to take you home or a ride share. There is no excuse to get behind the wheel intoxicated.”
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
