More than 100 individuals were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a targeted enforcement operation at construction sites in Tallahassee, Florida, on Thursday, May 29.
The multi-agency effort, spearheaded by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Tallahassee, involved a significant presence from various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Officials reported that those arrested hailed from a number of countries, including Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and Honduras.

During the operation, one individual was taken into state custody for resisting arrest and is reportedly facing four counts of assault on law enforcement officers. Another person allegedly attempted to pull a weapon on officers during the enforcement action.
“These types of enforcement actions aim to eliminate illegal employment, holding employers accountable and protecting employment opportunities for America’s lawful workforce,” stated ICE HSI Tallahassee Assistant Special Agent in Charge Nicholas Ingegno. “HSI Tallahassee, working alongside our state, local, and federal partners, will continue protecting public safety by enforcing the immigration laws of our nation.”

ICE officials reiterated the agency’s ongoing commitment to identifying and addressing public safety and national security threats. Individuals found to be unlawfully present in the United States during such operations are subject to being taken into custody and processed for removal, in accordance with federal law.
The joint operation included ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the Florida Highway Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Marshals Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI).
