Payton McNabb, a former high school athlete and sports ambassador for Independent Women, is set to testify before Congress on Wednesday, May 7, in a hearing titled “Unfair Play: Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”
The hearing, hosted by the U.S. House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on Government Efficiency, will examine the implications of allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports and how such policies conflict with federal law, including Title IX.

McNabb, whose athletic career was cut short after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a volleyball game against a biological male athlete, will share her personal story and advocate for stronger protections for female athletes.
“I want you all to know that this issue is very real. I didn’t realize how big it was until it personally affected me. What we are talking about is reality and basic truth,” said McNabb. “Men have an inherent biological advantage over women when it comes to sports. This is undeniable.”
Joining McNabb on Wednesday will be Stephanie Turner, a competitive fencer who has spoken out against male inclusion in women’s sports, and Damien Lehfeldt, Chairman of the Board for USA Fencing, who was subpoenaed to testify.

Currently, 27 states have enacted laws barring biological males from competing in women’s sports, with more considering similar measures.
McNabb’s testimony adds a personal dimension to the heated debate over fairness, safety, and the future of women’s athletics.
