Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured In Tarpon Springs Crash On US-19

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed and a second was injured after being struck by a vehicle on US-19 southbound near Woodhill Drive Sunday evening.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 8:30 PM on May 4th. Police and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene.

Authorities said two pedestrians were walking when they were hit by a single southbound vehicle.

One of the pedestrians, identified as Mandy Adams, 48, suffered critical injuries and was transported to Advent Health North Pinellas, where she later died.

The second pedestrian, Morgan Morris, 43, who was walking with Adams, was also struck. Mr. Morris sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Bayonet Point Medical Center in Hudson.

The vehicle involved in the crash was identified as a 2020 Kia utility vehicle. The driver, Steven Behrens of Tarpon Springs, and his female passenger were not injured. They remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

At this stage of the investigation, it does not appear that criminal charges will be filed in connection with the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Tarpon Springs Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Officer Matt Geer at 727-938-2849.
