Pinellas County Traffic Alert: Drivers Brace For Week Of Lane Closures

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters in Pinellas County should prepare for a busy week on local roadways as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced numerous lane closures across the county from Saturday, June 15, through Friday, June 21, 2025.

These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and construction projects and will impact both daytime and nighttime travel.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution in work zones.

Here’s a summary of the upcoming lane closures in Pinellas County:

Major Roadways Impacted:

  • I-175: Expect nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between 16th Street S and 4th Street S, beginning Sunday, June 15, and continuing through Saturday, June 21.
  • US 19: Multiple sections of US 19 will experience closures:
    • From SR 580 (Main Street) to Tampa Road: Nightly closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19.
    • (34th Street) from 54th Avenue S to 22nd Avenue N: Both day (7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday) and night (7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday-Thursday) lane closures are scheduled.
    • From Drew Street to Sunset Point Road: Nightly closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19. The Frontage Road in this section will also have identical nightly closures.

  • ALT US 19 (Palm Harbor Boulevard): Lane closures with flagging operations are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between Meres Boulevard and Tampa Road, Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19.
  • ALT US 19 (Pinellas Avenue): Closures will occur at Anclote Road/Coquina Drive from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20.
  • Alt US 19 (5th Avenue N): This segment will see both day (7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday) and night (7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday-Thursday) lane closures from 6th Street N to Tyrone Boulevard.
  • SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard): Eastbound lane closures will remain in effect 24 hours per day through late 2025 between S. Bayshore Boulevard and Dr Kiran C Patel Boulevard.
  • SR 679 (Pinellas Bayway): Lane closures are expected from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Yacht Club Lane and 12th Street W, Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20.
  • 9th Street South (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street): Nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. are planned between 6th Avenue S and 7th Avenue S, Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19.

Motorists are encouraged to check dynamic message signs for real-time updates and to utilize navigation apps for potential detours. FDOT reminds drivers that all construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
