PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists across Pinellas County should prepare for significant traffic impacts next week as numerous lane closures are scheduled on major interstates and arterial roads. The closures, primarily for construction and maintenance, will affect commutes from Tuesday, May 27, through Saturday, May 31, with varying hours and durations.
Drivers utilizing the interstate system will encounter multiple nightly closures. I-175, from 16th Street S to 4th Street S, will experience lane closures nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Tuesday, May 27, through Saturday, May 31.

I-275 will see extensive lane closures from 54th Avenue S to 5th Avenue S. Southbound lanes will be affected from 7:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. nightly, while northbound lanes will close from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly, both from Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30. Similarly, I-375 from I-275 to 4th Avenue N will have lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Tuesday through Friday.
Major roadways will also be impacted. ALT US 19 (Palm Harbor Boulevard) from Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road will have lane closures with flagging operations from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly, Tuesday, May 27, through Thursday, May 29. Further south, ALT US 19 (Pinellas Avenue) at Anclote Road/Coquina Drive will experience daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
US 19 will be a particularly busy corridor for roadwork. From SR 580 (Main Street) to SR 586 (Curlew Road), nightly lane closures are expected from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday. US 19 (34th Street) from 54th Avenue S to 22nd Avenue N will have both day lane closures (7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and night lane closures (7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.) from Tuesday, May 27, through Friday, May 30. Additionally, US 19 from Drew Street to Sunset Point Road will see nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday.

Other key routes affected include SR 590 (Coachman Road) at US 19 Frontage Road, with nightly closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday. Alt US 19 (5th Avenue N) from 6th Street N to Tyrone Boulevard will have day lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Tuesday-Saturday) and night lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Tuesday-Thursday).
Long-term work continues on SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) from S. Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C Patel Boulevard, with eastbound lane closures remaining in effect 24 hours per day through late 2025. Separately, SR 60 from Island Way to the Clearwater Bridge will have nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday.
Finally, SR 679 (Pinellas Bayway) from Yacht Club Lane to 12th Street W will see daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. And 9th Street South (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street) from 6th Avenue S to 7th Avenue S will have nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Tuesday through Friday.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution in construction zones. It is recommended to check real-time traffic updates before departing.
