BRANDON, Fla. – Commuters and residents in Brandon are facing a detour today as a section of South Dover Road has been closed due to a cross drain failure that requires immediate repair.

This closure will impact the stretch of S. Dover Road between Petticoat Junction and East Lumsden Road.

A detour route has been set up to help navigate around the affected area. Motorists are advised to utilize Durant Road, South Mulrennan Road, and State Road 60 as alternative routes.

Good news for those affected: navigation applications have reportedly been updated to reflect the road closure and will automatically route users along the designated detour. This should help minimize confusion and ensure smoother travel for those unfamiliar with the area.

The Public Works Department anticipates that the emergency repairs will be completed, and S. Dover Road will be reopened to traffic by the end of today, Tuesday, April 22nd.
