Roadwork Ahead: FDOT Announces Extensive Lane Closures For Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters in Hillsborough County should prepare for significant traffic disruptions next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced numerous lane closures across major interstates and roadways for ongoing maintenance and construction projects.

The closures are scheduled from Saturday, June 15, through Friday, June 21, 2025.

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution when navigating these areas.

Key areas affected by nighttime closures include:

I-4: Expect nightly closures between County Line Road and McIntosh Road from Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19 (9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.). An additional section of I-4 between SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) and 50th Street will see closures from Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 20 (11 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

I-75: Multiple segments of I-75 will experience nighttime lane closures. From Progress Boulevard to Woodberry Road, closures are scheduled Sunday, June 15, through Friday, June 20 (8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.).

The I-75 interchange at SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) will have closures Sunday, June 15, through Friday, June 20 (9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.), with additional northbound closures from Thursday, June 19, through Saturday, June 21 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

Southbound I-75 from Fowler Avenue to SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) will see nightly closures Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20 (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.), a closure pattern that will continue through July 3.

I-275 (Howard Frankland Bridge): Travelers between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties via the Howard Frankland Bridge should anticipate nightly lane closures from Sunday, June 15, through Saturday, June 21 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

I-275 southbound entrance ramp from George J. Bean Parkway and Memorial Highway: This ramp will be subject to nightly closures from Sunday, June 15, through Saturday, June 21 (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

US 41B (Causeway Boulevard/S 22nd Street): Nightly closures are planned from Sagasta Street to SR 60 (Adamo Drive) from Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19 (7 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

SR 60 (Memorial Highway): Westbound lanes from George J. Bean Parkway to SR 589 (Veterans Expressway) will close nightly from Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

SR 582 (Fowler Avenue): Nightly closures are slated from 51st Street to Riverhills Drive from Sunday, June 15, through Thursday, June 19 (9 p.m. to 7 a.m.).

Daytime and extended closures include:

  • US 41B (Highland Avenue): Southbound lanes from Violet Street to SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) will experience extended closures from Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20, starting at 10 a.m. and continuing overnight until 7 a.m.
  • US 41 (Florida Avenue/Tampa Street): A lane closure will be in effect from Kennedy Boulevard to Bearss Avenue from Monday, June 16, to Saturday, June 21 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
  • US 92 (Hillsborough Avenue): Expect a lane closure from SR 589 (Veterans Expressway) to I-4 from Monday, June 16, through Saturday, June 21 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
  • US 301 at Ayersworth Glen Boulevard: Lane closures are scheduled from Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
  • US 301 north of Rhodine Road: A northbound lane closure will continue 24 hours per day through Friday, June 20.
  • SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): A lane closure is planned from Dale Mabry Highway to I-4 from Monday, June 16, through Saturday, June 21 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

FDOT urges drivers to remain vigilant for construction vehicles and workers in these areas. Real-time traffic information and updates can often be found on the FL511 system or local news outlets.
