POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A seemingly minor traffic infraction in Davenport led to a significant arrest Wednesday when a routine stop by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a suspect wanted for first-degree murder.

At approximately 7:23 p.m., Deputy Iacobucci initiated a traffic stop on a white 2012 Nissan Altima in the area of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Roselli Boulevard. The vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Melvin Rafael Pardo Acevedo of Kissimmee, was pulled over for making an illegal turn.

What began as a minor traffic violation quickly escalated when Deputy Iacobucci made contact with Pardo Acevedo.

A standard check revealed that Pardo Acevedo had an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder with a firearm out of Osceola County.

Pardo Acevedo was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office without incident and transported to the Polk County Jail.

“It wasn’t all bad news for Mel…Deputy Iacobucci only gave him a warning for the illegal turn,” said Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
