RUSKIN, Fla. – A 36-year-old man is in custody following a shooting incident Sunday morning in Ruskin that left three juveniles injured, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
On Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., deputies responded to the 500 block of Sunlit Coral Street after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered three juvenile victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were promptly transported to Tampa General Hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives launched an immediate investigation and determined that the suspect, identified as Christopher Lee Brown, confronted the juveniles over a dispute involving a vehicle. Authorities allege that during the ensuing altercation, Brown discharged a firearm multiple times, striking the three victims.
Following their investigation, detectives secured a warrant for Brown’s arrest. He was subsequently apprehended without incident.
“This was a senseless and alarming act of violence that could have had an even more devastating outcome,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “I’m grateful for the swift response of our deputies and the dedicated efforts of our detectives, who worked quickly to identify the suspect and ensure he was taken into custody without further incident.”

Brown is currently facing a litany of felony charges, including three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge, three counts of Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon Firearm – Discharge, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Discharge Firearm in Public or on Residential Property, two counts of Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Resisting Officer without Violence, and Criminal Mischief (More than $200, Less than $1,000).
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has stated that this remains an active investigation.
