Sarasota Man Arrested In Shooting That Injured Auburn University RB Brian Battie, Killing His Brother, Tommie Battie IV

SARASOTA, Fla – Darryl Bernard Brookins, 28, of Sarasota, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a shooting that critically injured Auburn University running back Brian Battie and killed his brother, Tommie Battie IV.

The incident occurred in the Tallywood Centre Plaza parking lot in Sarasota, Florida, during the early hours of Saturday morning, May 18th.

Brookins was apprehended with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force following a collaborative effort by local and federal law enforcement agencies. Brookins has four prior felony convictions.

Brookins has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and as a felon in possession of a firearm. He will be booked into the Sarasota County Correctional Facility.
