The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call on Monday, April 28, 2025, at approximately 12:29 p.m., at a residence on Dristol Avenue.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a family member discovered the deceased couple. The man told detectives he went to the home after being contacted by the employer of his father, identified as Randall Bowman, 57, who had not reported to work.

Upon entering the residence, the man found both his father, Bowman, and his stepmother, deceased, in a bedroom, both appearing to have suffered from gunshot wounds. A firearm was found lying next to Mr. Bowman.

The man informed investigators that the couple had been experiencing ongoing marital problems and that his stepmother was in the process of seeking a divorce.

A preliminary investigation suggests that Mr. Bowman shot and killed his wife while she was in bed before committing suicide using the same firearm.
