PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – With the Atlantic Hurricane Season on the horizon, the City of St. Petersburg, in collaboration with Pinellas County, is hosting a crucial Hurricane Preparedness Day on Saturday, May 31, 2025. This free and family-friendly event aims to equip residents with the knowledge and resources necessary to navigate the challenges of the upcoming storm season.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Willis S. Johns Recreation Center, 6635 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N.

Attendees can expect a comprehensive program designed to cover all aspects of hurricane readiness. Industry experts will deliver presentations on vital topics, including effective evacuation plans, essential storm safety measures, and overall emergency preparedness strategies.

Beyond informational sessions, a wealth of practical services will be available. Residents can pick up free hurricane kit supplies, easily look up their evacuation zone, and register for the Special Needs Evacuation Program.

Understanding the unique needs of all community members, the event will also feature dedicated resources for pet owners and families. A live demonstration will illustrate the proper use of sandbags and showcase emergency shelters, offering practical tips for home protection. The essential 2025 Hurricane Guide, a comprehensive resource for the season, will also be distributed.
