HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Get ready for a summer of adventure and learning as the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library (HCPLC) kicks off its Summer Reading 2025 program with a vibrant lineup of free events throughout June.
Designed to keep young minds active and entertained during the school break, the program offers a diverse range of activities for children, teens, and even adults.
The June calendar is packed with engaging options, from magical adventures and robotic explorations to cultural performances and creative workshops. While the following is just a sample, a full schedule of events and classes can be found on the HCPLC website at HCPLC.org.

Kicking off the month, the Showtime for Kids: Mystery Island Adventure on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Maureen B. Gauzza Public Library promises an afternoon of magic, balloons, and comedy for children, funded by the Friends of the Maureen B. Gauzza Public Library.
Teens can delve into the world of technology at the Robot Roundup with MOSI on Thursday, June 5th, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library. This introductory robotics session will allow participants to code robots to walk, talk, and dance. Registration is recommended.
A highlight for all ages will be the Summer Festival at the Seminole Heights Branch Library on Saturday, June 7th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This family-friendly event, funded by the Friends of the Seminole Heights Library and Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, will feature face painting, robotics, games, music, food, and more.
Other notable events for children include:
- Terrestrial Animal Ambassadors with the Florida Aquarium on Wednesday, June 11th, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the 78th Street Community Library. (Registration recommended)
- Adventure Down Under, an exploration of Australian culture and wildlife, on Monday, June 16th, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library. (Registration recommended)
- Crafty Colorful Kaleidoscopes workshop on Tuesday, June 17th, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Town ‘N Country Regional Public Library. (Registration recommended)
- Bilingual Children’s Music and Fun with Evan and Vanessa! on Saturday, June 21st, from 11 a.m. to noon at the West Tampa Branch Library.
- Accidental Inventions: Play Doh!, where children ages 6-12 can learn about inventions and make their own playdough, on Wednesday, June 25th, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Ruskin Branch Library. (Registration and allergy awareness recommended)
- Tampa Taiko Japanese Drumming, an interactive cultural program, on Saturday, June 28th, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Riverview Public Library.

Adults are also invited to join in the fun with events such as Canvas Painting with The Color Express on Friday, June 13th, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library (registration recommended) and Hand Embroidered Greeting Cards on Monday, June 23rd, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Arthenia L. Joyner University Area Community Library (registration recommended).
