TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) crews responded to a fire that erupted at a mechanic shop and scrap yard facility located in the 3900 block of W. Osborne Avenue Monday evening. The incident, reported at approximately 6:18 p.m., drew a large response after multiple 9-1-1 callers and responding fire units reported heavy smoke billowing from the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a substantial covered exterior section of the scrap yard engulfed in flames. The fire began to spread to an adjacent six-unit apartment building.

Firefighters immediately launched an aggressive interior attack on the apartment structure, working to stop the fire’s progression. Simultaneously, other crews focused their efforts on combating the blaze within the mechanics yard.
Thankfully, searches of the apartment building confirmed that all residents had successfully evacuated before the fire spread significantly.
As the situation escalated, incident command struck a second alarm, calling in additional resources to the scene. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and aerial ladder trucks to effectively contain the growing inferno, eventually transitioning to a defensive operational strategy to manage the extensive flames in the scrap yard.
