TAMPA, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has arrested a Tampa General Hospital employee on dozens of felony charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The arrest of David Scott Farber, 42, comes after an investigation launched by HCSO’s Internet Predator Unit.

The investigation began when detectives uncovered suspicious activity on a social media platform, which led them to identify Farber.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, detectives executed a residential search warrant, recovering 79 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

Authorities stated that the felony charges against Farber are subject to enhanced penalties due to the graphic nature of the content, which involved children under the age of five and depicted explicit abuse.

Further investigation by HCSO revealed an additional disturbing layer to Farber’s activities. Detectives discovered that Farber, while employed at Tampa General Hospital, had allegedly taken inappropriate photos and videos of himself within operating rooms and patient care areas.

These images were then reportedly distributed to others via social media.

Farber was taken into custody without incident on June 3, 2025. He currently faces 79 felony counts related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, with additional charges potentially forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned Farber’s alleged actions, stating, “This arrest is both disturbing and appalling. The exploitation of innocent children is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. And to learn this suspect had access to vulnerable individuals while employed in a health care setting makes his actions even more reprehensible. We will ensure he is held fully accountable under the law.”
