TAMPA, Fla. – A 25-year-old Tampa man, Jose Guerrero, Jr., was arrested today and faces 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography following an intensive investigation sparked by a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The Tampa Police Department, in partnership with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), made the arrest.

The investigation commenced on February 20, 2025, after Tampa Police received the NCMEC cyber-tip, which indicated a consistent pattern of possession and distribution of suspected child pornography between November 2024 and January 2025.

Detectives from the Tampa Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and the FDLE Cyber Crimes Unit launched an exhaustive investigation upon receiving the report. Investigators meticulously reviewed the provided information and its supporting content, confirming the presence of child pornography. Leads within the report quickly led to the identification of Guerrero (DOB: 6/1/1999) as the suspect.

Early Wednesday morning, authorities executed a search warrant at Guerrero’s residence located at 6611 N. 50th St. Following the search, Guerrero was arrested and charged with 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, specifically relating to 10 or more images and the content of those images. He has been transported to Orient Road Jail.

“The seriousness of this crime cannot be overstated; it represents the brutal harming and exploitation of children,” stated Chief Lee Bercaw. “Let this arrest serve as a powerful warning to those who choose to possess and distribute child pornography – you will be relentlessly pursued and held accountable for your heinous actions. We are committed to protecting our most vulnerable and these vigilant detectives have proven they remain tireless in their commitment to this effort.”

FDLE Tampa Bay Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration. “Our partnerships with law enforcement agencies such as the Tampa Police Department are crucial in bringing these vile crimes to a stop and bringing the offenders to justice,” he said. “The work that our agents and officers did in this case was top notch, and an example of how our agencies work to protect the community from the criminals and offenders in shadows and in plain sight.”
