Tampa Man Killed In Collision With California Trucker’s Parked Rig On US-301

TAMPA, Fla. – A 23-year-old Tampa man was killed early Wednesday after his BMW 328i collided with a parked tractor-trailer on US-301 South, just south of Maislin Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:05 am when the victim, traveling southbound on US-301, failed to see a tractor-trailer that was partially protruding into the outside southbound lane from a private driveway access.

The tractor-trailer, driven by a 26-year-old San Jose, California man, was parked in the driveway of Gulf Coast Thermo King, located at 7802 US-301 South.

The driver of the BMW sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
