“Rowing is a wonderful sport for fitness and for friendship,” said Michael Moseley, supervisor of the Parks and Recreation rowing programs. “It’s a growing sport nationally, and booming in this market thanks to our access to water, and the Tampa River Center.”
The event is designed to accommodate 120 eager participants across four scheduled classes: 7:00 to 9:00 a.m., 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Due to expected high demand, early registration is strongly encouraged and can be completed at www.tampa.gov/row25.
National Learn to Row Day is a cornerstone of the Tampa River Center’s year-round rowing programming for both adults and youth.
The recent success of Team Tampa Rowing further highlights the growing popularity of the sport in the Tampa Bay area.

Members of the club, who recently secured their first state title, will be present at the event. Two of their impressive squads – the Women’s U17 and Men’s U16 teams – have qualified for nationals, which are set to take place just a few miles south in Sarasota from June 12 to 15.
For younger enthusiasts, the River Center’s rowing summer camp is currently underway for children in grades 5-12, with availability still open for weeks in June and July. More information and registration links for the summer camp can be found at TeamTampaRowing.com.
