Tampa Teen Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash On I-4 In Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Interstate 4 Wednesday night claimed the life of a 16-year-old passenger and left two others seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred at approximately 10:48 PM on April 16, 2025, near Milepost 15 on eastbound I-4.

According to the FHP report, a Dodge SUV, driven by a 16-year-old male from Temple Terrace, was traveling eastbound in the middle lane. Simultaneously, a Cadillac CTS, driven by a 17-year-old male from Tampa, was traveling eastbound in the inside lane.

Troopers report that near Milepost 15, the driver of the Dodge SUV attempted to change lanes, resulting in a collision with the Cadillac CTS. Following the initial impact, both vehicles rotated towards the outside shoulder of the interstate. The Cadillac overturned, while the Dodge SUV struck a concrete culvert.

A 16-year-old male passenger from Tampa, who was traveling in the Dodge SUV, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. FHP noted that this passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 16-year-old driver of the Dodge SUV sustained minor injuries. Two other passengers in the SUV, a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, both from Tampa, suffered serious injuries.

The 17-year-old driver of the Cadillac CTS was uninjured. Three passengers in the Cadillac – a 16-year-old female from Tampa and two 16-year-old males from Seffner – sustained minor injuries.
