TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers on Bayshore Boulevard should anticipate delays starting this morning as the Tampa Water Department undertakes a permanent restoration project following earlier water main maintenance.

Starting at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the outside southbound lane of Bayshore Boulevard will be closed to traffic between South Boulevard and South Newport Avenue. The closure is necessary for crews to complete a more permanent fix to the water distribution system in the area.

The Tampa Water Department has indicated that barricades and signage will be in place to guide drivers and manage traffic flow through the affected section of the iconic roadway. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and be alert when traveling near the construction zone.

Officials have advised that modifications to the lane closures may be implemented as the work progresses.

The road restoration activities are scheduled to continue until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025. At that time, the lane is expected to reopen to normal traffic. However, the Tampa Water Department notes that all restoration schedules are dependent on weather conditions.

This current work is a follow-up to earlier, temporary maintenance performed on the water distribution system.
