TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa commuters should prepare for traffic disruptions as the Tampa Water Department has announced multiple lane closures effective today starting at 9:00 AM. Maintenance on the water distribution system and a separate water main break are forcing these closures in different parts of the city.

Bayshore Boulevard Southbound Lane Closure

The outer southbound lane on scenic Bayshore Boulevard will be closed between South Boulevard and South Newport Avenue. This closure is to allow Tampa Water Department crews to conduct essential maintenance on the water distribution system.

The work is anticipated to last until 5:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025. Motorists should consider alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling through the area. Barricades and signage will be in place to guide traffic flow. Please note that modifications to the lane closure may be required as the work progresses.

North Boulevard Northbound Lane Closure

In a separate operation, the northbound lane on North Boulevard will be closed between West Flora Street and West Sligh Avenue, also starting at 9:00 AM today. This closure is for ongoing maintenance of the water distribution system.

The Tampa Water Department estimates that normal traffic patterns will resume by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025. However, the department has indicated that further work may be necessary later, and updates will be provided accordingly. Drivers are urged to seek alternative routes and proceed with caution in the affected area.

North Armenia Avenue Southbound Lane Closure Due to Water Main Break

The right southbound lane on North Armenia Avenue between West St. John Street and West St. Conrad Street is closed due to an urgent water main break that requires immediate repair. This closure also began at 9:00 AM today.

While the estimated completion time is also 4:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, the Tampa Water Department cautions that modifications may be necessary. Similar to the North Boulevard closure, additional work may be required later. Motorists traveling in this area should be aware of barricades and signs and drive with extra caution.

The Tampa Water Department reminds the public that all work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
