TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters traveling on North Himes Avenue should prepare for significant delays starting today, as all southbound lanes of North Himes Avenue will be closed between West Cypress Street and West Cass Street.

The closure, beginning at 9:00 AM, is necessary for the Tampa Water Department to undertake urgent repairs to a water main break.

Barricades and signs have been placed in the affected area to guide motorists and assist with traffic flow. Drivers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating through the vicinity. The Tampa Water Department has indicated that modifications to the traffic management plan may be necessary as the repair work progresses.

The Tampa Water Department anticipates the completion of the work and a return to normal traffic patterns by 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 5.

However, the department noted that a return visit may be required at a later date to perform additional work, with an update to be provided if that becomes necessary. All work schedules are contingent upon prevailing weather conditions.
